The Fairest One of All →

For all you weirdos who hate Snow White… Why Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of Disney’s greatest achievements.

Above all, Snow White is joyously alive to the charm and power of its source material and of the fairy-tale form. The poetic power of Snow White’s coming of age — awakening to love; discovering evil and malevolence; seeing through childish fears; taking on adult and even parental roles and responsibilities; and finally death and resuscitation by the power of true love — is realized here about as compellingly as any screen adaptation of any fairy tale.

I saw “The Avengers” tonight, and these are my thoughts:

  1. Marry me, Captain America?
  2. I actually liked Scarlett Johansson in this movie. Which makes this movie the second one I’ve ever liked her in.
  3. When Thor and Loki were battling it up towards the end in their respective red and green capes, I couldn’t help mentally Sorting them into Gryffindor and Slytherin.
  4. Mark Ruffalo will never not be adorable. Even as a massive green creature with anger management issues.
  5. Definitely didn’t realize that Tom Hiddleston was Loki until they rolled the credits at the end.
  6. I laughed at every word that came out of Thor’s mouth. He’s just too much to take seriously. But still totally awesome.
  7. Cobie Smulders will never not be Robin Scherbatsky to me. Which made it really difficult for me to keep it together any time anyone said “Suit up.”
  8. Agent Coulson’s crush on Captain America was adorable. Also, along the same lines, WHYYYY?!
  9. The special effects were AWESOME.
  10. Seriously, though, Captain America - please marry me?

“Hilarious and insightful. Laugh-out-loud funny - oh no, a full moon. No! Arrgh! Get away from me! Save yourself!” -A guy turning into a werewolf

I hope that someday I can be half as hilarious as Tina Fey.

“I believe that love that is true and real creates a respite from death. All cowardice comes from not loving, or not loving well, which is the same thing.”

Ernest Hemingway, Midnight in Paris

“That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.”
